My girlfriend got an MRI yesterday. Incredible technology. The machine uses superconducting magnets, radio waves, and advanced computing to create insanely detailed images of the inside of the human body.
And then, after performing this miracle of modern medicine, they handed her the results on a CD. A CD. In 2026.
AI can diagnose diseases. Cars can drive themselves. Rockets can launch into space, land themselves, and be reused. I can video call someone at 35,000 feet.
But to see an MRI in 2026 you need a CD-ROM drive.
The funniest part is that the instructions specifically say: "This CD is NOT compatible with any Apple product."
Perfect.
Nothing makes me feel more confident in the future of healthcare than needing to find a Dell Inspiron running Windows XP to access an MRI.
Healthcare might be the greatest remaining software opportunity in America. We've got rockets that land themselves and AI that can write code. But medical imaging still runs on technology from the early 2000s.
That gap between what's possible and what's actually deployed in healthcare? That's where the next wave of innovation lives.
If you're building in healthcare tech, the bar for improvement isn't even that high. Just don't hand people a CD.
